과천 지역 고등학교 배치 구조를 개선하고 학생·학부모의 학교 선택권을 제도적으로 보장하기 위한 정책 논의가 본격화된다.

경기도의회 교육기획위원회 소속 김현석 의원(국민의힘, 과천)이 위원장을 맡은 ‘경기도의회 국민의힘 과천 교육구조 정상화 및 학생선택권 보장 특별위원회’ 출범식이 오는 20일 오후 1시 30분, 과천시청 대강당에서 열린다.

이번 출범식은 장기간 반복돼 온 과천시 고등학교 배치 구조의 문제를 공론화하고, 학생과 학부모의 선택이 실질적으로 존중되는 교육체계로의 전환 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다. 특히 고교 배치 제도 개선과 이를 뒷받침할 조례 제정 필요성을 정책 차원에서 공식 논의하는 첫 출발점이라는 점에서 주목된다.
