2월 2일 아침, 양재천 산책로에 사람들이 모였다. 장갑을 끼고 집게를 든 시민들이다. ‘세계 습지의 날’을 맞아 과천 시민 30여 명이 하천과 습지를 지키는 작은 실천에 나섰다.

이날 활동은 과천시 푸른과천환경센터가 마련했다. 참가자들은 양재천을 따라 천천히 걸으며 눈에 띄는 쓰레기를 하나씩 주웠다. 걷는 속도는 빠르지 않았고, 대신 이야기가 오갔다. 하천 옆 풀과 물, 계절마다 달라지는 풍경, 그리고 우리가 지켜야 할 것들에 대한 이야기였다.

과천시는 앞으로도 시민 참여형 환경정화 활동과 생태 교육 프로그램을 통해, 도심 속 소중한 자연을 함께 지켜가는 문화를 확산해 나갈 계획이다.

Gwacheon Citizens Walk the Yangjae Stream on World Wetlands Day

On the morning of February 2nd, people gathered along the Yangjae Stream trail. They wore gloves and held tongs. To mark World Wetlands Day, about 30 Gwacheon citizens took small steps to protect the stream and wetlands.

The activity was organized by the Gwacheon City Green Gwacheon Environment Center. Participants walked slowly along the Yangjae Stream, picking up any trash they saw. Their pace was slow, but conversations were exchanged. They discussed the grass and water along the stream, the changing landscape with each season, and the things we must protect.
