과천시가 아동의 목소리를 시정에 반영하기 위한 제3기 아동참여위원회를 출범시키며 아동친화도시 조성에 속도를 낸다.

과천시는 지난 27일 시청 대강당에서 제3기 아동참여위원회 위촉식을 열고, 공개모집을 통해 선발된 초등학생 21명과 중·고등학생 8명 등 모두 29명의 아동위원에게 위촉장을 수여했다.

아동참여위원회는 아동이 지역사회의 구성원으로서 정책 수립과정에 직접 참여해 의견을 제안하는 공식 참여기구다. 유엔아동권리협약 제12조가 규정한 아동의 의견표명권을 보장하고, 아동의 시각이 시정에 반영될 수 있도록 운영되는 과천시의 대표적인 아동 참여 정책이다.

새롭게 위촉된 제3기 위원들은 앞으로 2년간 아동권리 캠페인과 정책 제안 및 모니터링, 어린이 축제 기획 등 다양한 활동에 참여하며 아동친화도시 조성을 위한 정책 발굴과 의견 제시에 나설 예정이다.

이날 위촉식에는 아동위원과 학부모 등 50여 명이 참석한 가운데 제2기 모범 아동위원 5명과 우수 자원봉사자 3명에 대한 시장 표창도 함께 진행됐다. 이어 굿네이버스 경기의왕지부가 진행한 아동권리 교육과 활동 오리엔테이션을 통해 위원들의 역할과 활동 방향을 공유하는 시간을 가졌다.

신계용 과천시장은 "아동참여위원회는 아이들이 지역사회의 주체로서 직접 변화를 만들어가는 의미 있는 참여의 장"이라며 "위원들의 다양한 의견이 시정에 적극 반영될 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않고, 아이들이 행복한 아동친화도시 과천을 만들어 가겠다"고 말했다.

Gwacheon City is accelerating the creation of a child-friendly city by launching the 3rd Child Participation Committee to reflect the voices of children in city administration.

On the 27th, Gwacheon City held an appointment ceremony for the 3rd Child Participation Committee at the City Hall auditorium and presented letters of appointment to a total of 29 child committee members, including 21 elementary school students and 8 middle and high school students selected through open recruitment.

The Child Participation Committee is an official participatory body where children, as members of the local community, directly participate in the policy-making process and propose their opinions. It is Gwacheon City's representative child participation policy, operated to guarantee children's right to express their opinions as stipulated in Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to ensure that children's perspectives are reflected in city administration.
