더불어민주당 이재정 국회의원(안양동안을)이 30일 열린 국회 본회의에서 제22대 국회 후반기 문화체육관광위원회 위원장으로 선출됐다.

국회 문화체육관광위원회는 문화예술과 콘텐츠, 관광, 체육, 국가유산, 출판·미디어 등 국민의 삶과 국가 문화 경쟁력에 직결된 분야를 담당하는 상임위원회다. 위원장은 소관 법률안과 예산·결산 심사, 국정감사를 총괄하며 문화·체육·관광 정책의 방향을 이끄는 역할을 맡는다.

3선 국회의원인 이 위원장은 산업과 외교 분야를 두루 거친 정책통으로 평가받는다. 제21대 국회에서는 산업통상자원중소벤처기업위원장을 맡아 여야 협의를 이끌었으며, 제22대 국회에서는 외교통일위원회에서 활동하며 외교·통일 현안을 다뤘다.

이 위원장은 앞으로 문화예술인의 안정적인 창작환경 조성과 게임·영화 등 K-콘텐츠 산업 경쟁력 강화, 지역 간 문화격차 해소, 관광산업 활성화 등에 역량을 집중할 계획이다. 또한 외교 분야 경험을 바탕으로 문화공공외교를 확대하고, K-콘텐츠와 관광·스포츠를 연계해 대한민국의 문화 경쟁력이 국가 성장과 국익으로 이어질 수 있도록 정책적 지원을 강화한다는 구상이다.

이재정 위원장은 "대한민국 K-컬처가 일시적인 유행에 머물러서는 안 된다"며 "우리의 문화와 전통이 미래 성장동력으로 이어질 수 있도록 든든한 기반을 마련하겠다"고 밝혔다.

이어 "문화·체육·관광 분야의 다양한 현안은 물론 국민의 신뢰를 회복하기 위한 언론개혁 과제까지 동료 위원들과 함께 책임 있게 추진해 나가겠다"고 말했다.

Rep. Lee Jae-jung of the Democratic Party of Korea (Anyang Dongan-eul) was elected as the Chairperson of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee for the second half of the 22nd National Assembly at the plenary session held on the 30th.

The National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee is a standing committee responsible for fields directly linked to the lives of the people and national cultural competitiveness, such as culture and arts, content, tourism, sports, national heritage, and publishing and media. The Chairperson oversees the review of relevant bills, budgets and settlements, and parliamentary audits, while playing a role in leading the direction of culture, sports, and tourism policies.

Chairperson Lee, a three-term lawmaker, is regarded as a policy expert who has worked extensively in both industrial and diplomatic fields. During the 21st National Assembly, he served as the Chairperson of the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, leading consultations between the ruling and opposition parties. In the 22nd National Assembly, he served on the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, handling pending issues related to foreign affairs and unification.

Chairperson Lee plans to focus his efforts on creating a stable creative environment for artists and culture professionals, strengthening the competitiveness of K-content industries such as games and films, bridging the cultural gap between regions, and revitalizing the tourism industry. Furthermore, leveraging his experience in diplomacy, he envisions expanding cultural public diplomacy and strengthening policy support by linking K-content with tourism and sports, ensuring that Korea's cultural competitiveness translates into national growth and national interests.

Chairperson Lee Jae-jung stated, "Korea's K-culture must not remain merely a passing fad," adding, "I will lay a solid foundation so that our culture and traditions can serve as future growth engines."

He continued, "I will responsibly push forward with my fellow committee members, addressing not only various pending issues in the culture, sports, and tourism sectors but also the task of media reform aimed at restoring public trust."
