안양시학원연합회가 자체 수학경시대회인 AMC(안양시 수학경시대회)를 지역을 대표하는 교육 브랜드로 육성하기 위한 본격적인 준비에 들어갔다.

안양시학원연합회 보습분과협의회는 9일 정회원 학원 관계자와 지학사 본사 및 풍산자수학연구소 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 '제2회 AMC 안양시 수학경시대회 설명회'를 개최하고, 대회 운영 방향과 출제 시스템을 공개했다.

'제2회 AMC, 새로운 도약'을 주제로 열린 이번 설명회는 지난해 처음 개최된 제1회 AMC의 운영 성과를 분석하고, 보다 공정하고 신뢰받는 지역 수학경시대회로 발전하기 위한 개선 방안을 공유하는 자리로 마련됐다.

1부에서는 안양시학원연합회 보습분과장 김도완이 제1회 AMC 운영 결과를 발표했다. 김 분과장은 첫 대회가 학생과 학부모, 회원 학원들의 높은 관심 속에 성공적으로 치러지며 지역 경시대회로서 가능성을 확인했다고 평가했다. 다만 상위권 학생들의 변별력 확보와 객관적인 평가체계 구축이 향후 과제로 제시됐으며, 이를 반영해 수차례 운영회의와 출제기관 협의를 거쳐 제2회 대회를 준비했다고 설명했다.

이어 열린 2부에서는 AMC 운영위원장 김순중이 새롭게 달라지는 대회 운영 방안을 소개했다. 제2회 AMC는 문항 유형을 세분화하고 차등 및 소수점 배점을 적용하는 한편, 데이터 기반 성적 분석 시스템을 도입해 학생들의 사고력과 문제 해결 능력을 보다 정교하게 평가할 계획이다.

특히 출제는 지학사 산하 풍산자수학연구소가 맡고, 시흥시와 연합시험 방식으로 운영해 문항의 완성도와 평가의 객관성을 높인다. 다만 시험 운영과 성적 발표, 시상은 안양시와 시흥시가 각각 독립적으로 진행해 지역별 특성을 반영할 예정이다.

이날 특강에서는 풍산자수학연구소가 제2회 AMC의 출제 방향과 평가 기준을 설명했으며, 설명회 마지막 순서에서는 제1회 AMC를 기획한 안양시학원연합회 이사 김용환이 대회 출범 배경과 향후 비전을 소개했다.

김 이사는 "AMC는 단순한 경시대회가 아니라 학생과 학원, 지역 교육이 함께 성장하는 교육 플랫폼"이라며 "회원 학원들이 함께 만들어 가는 지역 교육 브랜드로 자리매김할 수 있도록 적극적인 참여를 부탁드린다"고 말했다.

김범수 안양시학원연합회 회장도 "AMC가 안양을 대표하는 수학경시대회로 성장할 수 있도록 연합회 차원의 지원을 아끼지 않겠다"며 "학생들이 자신의 실력을 객관적으로 확인하고 성장할 수 있는 교육 환경을 만드는 데 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.

한편 제2회 AMC 안양시 수학경시대회는 오는 11월 15일 개최되며, 8월 25일부터 정회원 학원 재원생을 대상으로 우선 접수가 시작된다.
