안양시가 인공지능(AI)을 도시 운영 전반에 접목해 온 스마트도시 정책의 성과를 다시 한 번 인정받았다.

안양시는 '(사)한국언론인협회·국회 디지털경제 3.0포럼'이 공동 주최한 '2026 제11회 4차 산업혁명 AI Korea 대전'에서 스마트시티 부문 수상기관으로 선정돼 3년 연속 수상의 영예를 안았다고 23일 밝혔다.

시상식은 지난 21일 국회의원회관에서 열렸으며, 시는 22일 시청에서 전수식을 갖고 수상의 의미를 공유했다.

'AI Korea 대전'은 인공지능(AI), 가상현실(VR), 사물인터넷(IoT), 로봇 등 첨단기술을 활용한 우수 사례를 발굴해 디지털 전환 시대의 미래 성장동력을 확산하기 위해 마련된 행사다.

이 가운데 스마트시티 부문은 스마트 교통체계와 지능형 CCTV, AI 기반 범죄 분석, 교통안전시설 등 첨단 기술을 활용해 시민의 안전과 생활 편의를 높인 지방자치단체의 정책 성과를 평가한다.

안양시는 스마트도시통합센터를 중심으로 교통·안전·재난·복지 정보를 하나의 플랫폼에서 유기적으로 연계하고, AI 기반 스마트 서비스를 지속적으로 확대해 온 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

시는 2003년 버스정보시스템(BIS) 구축을 시작으로 스마트 교차로와 긴급차량 우선신호 시스템을 도입하는 등 지능형 교통체계를 꾸준히 확충해 왔다. 여기에 자율주행버스 '주야로' 운행, 스마트 스쿨존, 고령자 스마트 안심서비스 등 시민 생활과 밀접한 스마트 정책도 지속적으로 확대하며 미래형 도시 기반을 다져왔다.

이 같은 정책은 시민 안전을 최우선으로 하는 도시 운영과 함께 초연결 콤팩트 도시, 피지컬 AI 선도도시 조성을 위한 핵심 기반으로 평가받고 있다.

최대호 안양시장은 "3년 연속 수상은 시민의 생명과 안전을 최우선 가치로 삼아 스마트 정책을 꾸준히 추진해 온 결과"라며 "앞으로도 AI와 데이터를 기반으로 행정 혁신을 이어가 시민들이 안전하고 편리한 일상을 체감할 수 있는 안양형 스마트도시를 더욱 고도화하겠다"고 말했다.
