수원·의왕·군포·안산 등 수도권 서남부 4개 지자체가 신분당선 연장선의 국가철도망 구축계획 반영을 위해 공동 대응에 나섰다.

군포시는 11일 경기도의회 브리핑실에서 4개 지자체가 ‘신분당선 수원·의왕·군포·안산 연장선’ 추진을 위한 공동건의문에 서명하고 국가계획 반영을 촉구했다고 밝혔다.

이날 서명식에는 한대희 군포시장, 이재준 수원특례시장, 김성제 의왕시장, 허남석 안산시 부시장을 비롯해 4개 지역 도의원 13명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 공동건의문을 통해 국토교통부가 수립 중인 제5차 국가철도망 구축계획에 해당 노선을 반영해 줄 것을 요구했다.

신분당선 연장선은 기존 광교역에서 북수원 장안지구와 이목지구, 의왕역, 의왕·군포·안산 3기 신도시를 거쳐 반월역까지 연결하는 총연장 14.54㎞ 규모의 광역철도 노선이다. 군포시가 2022년 사전타당성 용역을 통해 발굴했으며, 그동안 군포시와 안산시가 국가계획 반영을 건의해 왔다.

한대희 군포시장은 “신분당선 연장선은 수도권 서남부 동서축을 연결해 3기 신도시의 도시가치를 높이고 시민들에게 획기적인 교통편의를 제공할 핵심 노선”이라며 “민간사업자의 적극적인 추진 의지가 있고 국가재정 부담을 줄이면서 지역 교통 문제를 해결할 수 있는 사업인 만큼 국가계획에 반드시 반영되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
