Gyeonggi-do promotes expansion of all routes of city bus completion system

Expand from 200 city-county routes to all routes Early completion by 2025

Gyeonggi Province announced on September 27 a new city bus stabilization plan that actively collects the opinions of labor and management in the bus industry and promotes the introduction of a semi-public system on all routes, not just some of the city buses.

This is part of the ‘implementation of the city bus quasi-public operation system’, which is the promise of the 8th popularly elected governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi-do in the transportation sector, and is more expanded than the ‘Gyeonggi-do City Bus Stabilization Comprehensive Measures’ announced at the press conference on the 15th.

At that time, Gyeonggi Province promoted the conversion of 200 non-profit, essential, and public routes between cities and counties sequentially by 2026, and for routes within cities and counties, the mayor/gun and companies voluntarily decided and managed whether to implement the semi-public system. announced that it would be done.

Even after the announcement of the comprehensive measures, Gyeonggi Province has been working tirelessly to come up with this expansion plan by meeting with relevant entities such as the bus industry, transportation workers, and 31 cities and counties to gather opinions and consult with them in order to find practical solutions.

In particular, opinions were gathered about expanding the city bus semi-public operation system to improve the business balance of bus companies and the treatment of transport workers through candid dialogue.

Accordingly, Gyeonggi-do has decided to expand the target of introducing the quasi-public management system for non-profit, essential, and public routes between cities and counties from 200 initially to all routes, and to complete it by 2025, one year earlier. All of these routes will be managed by Gyeonggi-do, and the conversion will be promoted.

Each city and county will be in charge of the introduction of the semi-public management system, but the provincial government plans to support the implementation of the semi-public management system for all city bus routes in the city by providing financial support.

Gyeonggi-do is also reviewing ways to introduce the semi-public management system as a 'joint management of revenues' rather than a 'route bidding system' to prevent confusion in the bus industry when the full implementation of the semi-public management system for city buses is implemented.

Park No-geuk, head of the Transportation Bureau, said, “This expansion measure is the result of continuous efforts jointly with labor and management, city and county, etc. to find practical solutions. We will negotiate.”

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th, ‘Comprehensive measures for stabilizing city buses’, including expanding the semi-public operation system for city buses, improving the treatment of transportation workers, and supporting the management of private companies to overcome difficulties in the bus industry and guarantee citizens’ right to use public transportation. there is a bar

In addition, the company has been continuously collecting opinions and negotiating with the labor and management and 31 cities and counties to promote the city bus quasi-public operation system.
