안양시가 ‘2024 안양춤축제’를 오는 9월 27~29일 사흘간 삼덕공원과 평촌중앙공원에서 개최하기로 결정했다고 지난 4월 19일 밝혔다.

안양시는 지난 4월 17일 시청 4층 회의실에서 ‘2024 안양춤축제 추진위원회’ 위원 46명에게 위촉장을 수여하고 첫 추진위원회 회의를 개최했다.

안양시는 지난해 17만여 명이 관람한 안양춤축제를 올해도 성공적으로 개최하고, 우리나라 대표 축제로 자리매김하고자 문화예술 및 축제·교육·청년 등의 각계각층 전문가와 지역주민 등으로 ‘2024 안양춤축제 추진위원회’를 구성했다.

추진위원회는 이날 안양춤축제를 이끌 추진위원장에 김의중 안양시 새마을회장을, 기획위원장에 문화공동체 히응의 이하나 대표를 선출하고, 축제 준비에 돌입했다.

추진위원회는 △2024. 안양춤축제 방향 △안양춤축제 일정·장소 △안양시 청소년 댄스대회 개최 △안양춤축제 캐릭터 이름짓기 공모 등을 논의하고 일정별 추진사항을 결정했다.

최대호 안양시장은 “안양춤축제가 더욱 풍성한 프로그램으로 안양시민뿐만 아니라 각지의 관광객이 찾아와 누구나 즐길 수 있는 축제가 되기를 소망한다”며 “특색있는 안양춤축제가 될 수 있도록 추진위원께서 전문지식과 경험을 바탕으로 개최 준비에 최선을 다해 주시길 부탁드린다”고 말했다.

안양춤축제는 안양시를 대표하는 축제로 대한민국축제콘텐츠대상에서 4년 연속 ‘전통축제/예술 부문 대상’을 수상했으며, 3년 연속 경기도 대표 관광축제로 선정됐다.

특히, 지난해 안양시는 시 승격 50주년을 기념해 개·폐막에서 안양시 성장의 역사 50년과 춤의 도시로 비상할 미래 100년을 춤으로 표현했고, 예술성을 높이 인정받았다.
