경기도교육청(교육감 임태희)이 올해 12월 2일부터 4일까지 유네스코, 교육부, 유네스코한국위원회와 공동으로 개최하는 ‘2024 유네스코 교육의 미래 국제포럼(이하 유네스코 교육 포럼)’의 성공을 위해 다각적인 노력을 기울이고 있다. 경기도교육청은 ‘2024 유네스코 교육의 미래 국제포럼’을 유네스코 본부 누리집에 홍보하고, 파리 유네스코 본부와 상호 협력 방안을 논의하고 있다.

경기도교육청은 2021년 유네스코 교육의 미래 보고서에 담긴 의제를 중심으로 유네스코 회원국의 미래교육 정책 및 연구, 현장 실천 사례를 공유해 경기교육 정책 강화를 위해 힘쓰고 있다.

경기도도교육청은 포럼의 원활한 추진을 위해 지난 3월 1일자로 본청에 유네스코 국제포럼 담당 부서를 조직하고 현재 국내외 유네스코 관련 기관과 본청 부서와도 다양한 협력을 진행하고 있다.

이번 유네스코 본부 누리집의 포럼 안내물 게시는 경기도교육청이 앞장서 주관하는 유네스코 교육 포럼을 전 세계 국가에 알리는 기반을 마련했다는 점에서 의미가 깊다.

또한 현재 1,000여 명 정도가 참여할 것으로 예상되는 유네스코 교육 포럼에는 국내외 정부 교육관계자, 각국 유네스코 담당자, 국제 교육전문가 등의 높은 관심과 유네스코 본부의 적극적인 협조가 중요하다.

경기도교육청은 장미란 기획조정실장을 단장으로 유네스코 포럼 추진을 위한 방문단을 구성해 7일 오후(한국 시간 기준) 유네스코 본부 담당자와 프랑스 현지에서 포럼 추진 및 진행 방향과 관련한 협의를 진행했다.

이번 협의로 양 기관은 국제 교육 포럼에 대한 목적을 공유하고 성공적인 교육 포럼 개최를 위해 향후에도 긴밀하게 협력하고 지원해 나가기로 했다.

장미란 기획조정실장은 “유네스코의 여러 교육정책 분야는 경기도교육청이 중점적으로 추진하는 교육과 관계가 깊다”면서 “교육의 미래 국제포럼뿐 아니라 경기교육의 여러 정책에 대해서도 유네스코와 함께 논의하고 협력할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
