과천시가 향후 5년간 16개 사업에 567억여 원을 투자하는 도로 건설·관리 계획을 수립했다고 지난 6월 5일 보도자료를 통해 밝혔다.

과천시는 2023년 5월부터 해당 용역에 착수해 지난 5월 30일 용역 최종보고회를 개최했으며, 해당 계획에 대해 인접 지자체 및 경기도 협의를 거쳐 도로건설·관리계획을 최종 고시할 예정이다.

과천시는 해당 계획을 토대로 원도심과 신도시 간 연결도로 신설을 통해 지역 균형 발전과 통행량 분산을 도모하고, 연차별로 투자우선순위 및 연차별 투자계획을 수립, 체계적이고 효율적으로 도로 환경을 개선할 수 있도록 할 방침이다.

해당 계획은 장래 개발계획과 교통 여건 변화에 선제적으로 대응, 도로망을 정비하고, 광역 및 도심 내 교통 기능 분산을 목표로 하고 있다.

과천시는 185억여 원의 사업비를 투입, 2028년까지 지식정보타운과 교육원로를 연결하는 총연장 0.85km의 왕복2차선 도로를 신설해 국도47호선(과천대로) 통과 교통량을 분산시키고, 지역 내 남북간 단절구간을 연결할 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

과천시는 도로건설 및 관리계획이 환경에 미치는 영향을 최소화하기 위해 친환경적인 설계 기법을 활용하고, 도로건설 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 주민 불편을 최소화하기 위해 사전에 충분한 안내가 이루어질 수 있도록 할 방침이다.
