경기도의회 건설교통위원회(위원장 허원)가 지난 3월 26일 오후 경기도 양주시 옥정호수공원에서 열린 ‘옥정~포천 광역철도 기공식’에 참석해 첫 삽을 함께 뜨며 건설공사의 성공적인 추진을 기원했다.

이날 광역철도 기공식에는 경기도의회 건설교통위원회 허원 위원장(국민의힘, 이천2)과 서성란(국민의힘, 의왕2), 이영주(국민의힘, 양주1) 의원을 비롯해 강수현 양주시장, 백영현 포천시장, 강희업 대도시권광역교통위원장, 김기범 철도항만물류국장 등이 참석했다.

‘옥정~포천 노선(16.9㎞)’은 서울지하철 7호선을 도봉산역에서 경기포천까지 연장하는 광역철도의 2단계 구간이다. 이날 기공식을 시작으로 본격적인 공사를 시작, 정거장 4곳(양주 1곳, 포천 3곳)과 차량기지 1개소 등을 총 1조5,067억원을 투입해 2030년 준공을 목표로 추진된다.

옥정~포천 광역철도 사업이 마무리되면 경기북부 주민의 서울 접근성이 크게 향상될 뿐만 아니라, 포천에서 양주, 의정부, 서울, 광명, 부천을 거쳐 인천까지 한 번에 갈 수 있어 교통편의가 대폭 향상될 전망이다.

The ‘Okjeong~Pocheon Line (16.9km)’ is the second stage of the metropolitan railway that extends Seoul Subway Line 7 from Dobongsan Station to Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province. Starting with the groundbreaking ceremony on this day, full-scale construction will begin, and a total of KRW 1.5067 trillion will be invested to construct four stations (one in Yangju and three in Pocheon) and one depot, with the goal of completion in 2030.
