경기도의회 김재훈 의원(국민의힘, 안양4)이 평촌도서관 재개관 일정과 운영 방향을 점검했다.

김 의원은 지난 3월 17일 경기도의회 안양상담소에서 최순애 동안구 도서관 관장과 면담을 갖고 평촌도서관 재개관 일정 변경과 명칭 설문조사 결과에 대한 보고를 받았다.

보고에 따르면 평촌도서관은 당초 2026년 9월 개관 예정이었으나 공사 기간 연장에 따라 2027년 1월로 일정이 조정됐다. 이는 인테리어 보완 공사와 맞춤형 가구 설치 등 개관 준비 완성도를 높이기 위한 조치로, 약 3개월가량 개관이 연기된 것이다.

또 도서관 명칭 유지 여부에 대한 시민 설문조사 결과, 만안구와 동안구 주민 응답자의 약 82%가 ‘평촌도서관’ 명칭 유지에 찬성한 것으로 나타났다. 찬성 이유로는 ▲30년간 이어온 명칭 가치 유지 ▲지역명 인지도 ▲평촌 브랜드 유지 등이 주요하게 꼽혔다.

김재훈 의원은 “도서관은 단순한 학습 공간을 넘어 문화와 휴식을 함께 누리는 복합문화공간으로 조성될 필요가 있다”며 “지역 특성과 이용자 수요를 반영한 실용적이고 효율적인 공간으로 조성될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.\

According to the report, Pyeongchon Library was originally scheduled to open in September 2026, but the schedule has been adjusted to January 2027 due to an extension of the construction period. This measure was taken to enhance the completeness of preparations for the opening, such as interior renovations and the installation of custom-made furniture, resulting in a delay of approximately three months.

Additionally, a citizen survey on whether to retain the library's name showed that approximately 82% of respondents from Manan-gu and Dongan-gu supported keeping the name "Pyeongchon Library." Key reasons cited for the support included maintaining the value of the name that has been passed down for 30 years, increasing the recognition of the local name, and preserving the Pyeongchon brand.

Councilor Kim Jae-hoon stated, “The library needs to be developed as a complex cultural space where people can enjoy culture and relaxation, going beyond a simple study area,” adding, “I will strive to create a practical and efficient space that reflects local characteristics and user demand.”
