한국도자재단 경기도자미술관이 2026 기획전 ‘흙과 우리 사이에 놓인 것들’과 연계하여, 관람객이 직접 작가와 소통하며 작품의 완성 과정에 참여하는 ‘마음을 태우는 시간-마음 의식’ 프로그램을 운영한다.

이번 프로그램은 김선 작가의 ‘마음의 기화’ 작업 세계를 바탕으로 기획됐다. 단순한 관람을 넘어 관람객의 행위 자체가 예술적 결과물의 일부가 되는 것이 특징이다. 참여자들은 자신의 소중한 기억이나 감정, 애도의 메시지를 종이에 기록한 뒤 이를 도자에 엮고, 야외 공간에서 직접 태우는 ‘의식’의 과정을 거치게 된다.

이렇게 태워진 결과물은 다시 전시장으로 옮겨져 작품의 일부로 전시된다. 이를 통해 개인의 사적인 기억이 전시 공간 안에서 공동의 기억으로 확장되는 특별한 경험을 제공할 예정이다.

프로그램은 오는 4월 25일을 시작으로 5월 30일, 6월 27일까지 총 3회에 걸쳐 진행된다. 회차별로 25명 내외를 선착순으로 모집하며, 만 7세 이상이면 누구나 참여할 수 있다.

참가 신청은 경기도자미술관 공식 누리집(gmocca.org)을 통한 사전 예약과 현장 접수로 가능하다.

류인권 한국도자재단 대표이사는 “이번 프로그램은 전시의 핵심 개념을 도민의 직접적인 경험으로 연결하기 위해 마련됐다”라며 “개인의 이야기가 예술을 통해 공동의 의미로 변하는 과정을 경험하길 바라며, 앞으로도 참여 중심의 다양한 프로그램을 선보이겠다”고 밝혔다.

“Burning Memories to Complete the Artwork”: Gyeonggi Museum of Ceramic Art Launches ‘Mind Ritual’ Program

Participatory Exhibition with Artist Kim Sun… Visitors’ Actions Become Part of the Artwork

In conjunction with the 2026 special exhibition “Things Between Earth and Us,” the Gyeonggi Museum of Ceramic Art, operated by the Korea Ceramic Foundation, is running the “Time to Burn the Mind – Mind Ritual” program. This program allows visitors to directly interact with the artist and participate in the process of completing the artwork.

This program was designed based on the artistic world of Artist Kim Sun’s “Vaporization of the Mind.” Its distinguishing feature is that it goes beyond simple viewing, allowing the visitors’ actions themselves to become part of the artistic outcome. Participants will record their cherished memories, emotions, or messages of mourning on paper, weave them into ceramics, and undergo a “ritual” process of burning them directly in an outdoor space.

The resulting pieces, once burned, will be moved back to the exhibition hall and displayed as part of the artwork. Through this, the program aims to provide a special experience where private personal memories expand into collective memories within the exhibition space.

The program will be held over a total of three sessions, starting on April 25, followed by May 30 and June 27. Approximately 25 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for each session, and anyone aged 7 or older can participate.

Registration is available via advance reservation through the Gyeonggi Museum of Ceramic Art's official website (gmocca.org) or on-site registration.

Ryu In-kwon, CEO of the Korea Ceramic Foundation, stated, "This program was organized to connect the core concept of the exhibition to the direct experiences of Gyeonggi residents.
