조용덕 안양시의정회장이 지난 7월 29일 성명서를 발표, 더불어민주당 정청래 당대표 후보 지지를 공식 선언했다.

조 회장은 성명서에서 “정청래 후보는 민주당의 대표적인 개혁 성향 중진의원으로서, 검찰개혁·언론개혁·사법개혁을 일관되게 추진하며 민주주의와 국민의 권리를 지키기 위해 앞장서 왔다”며, “특히 법제사법위원장으로서 사법개혁 법안 통과에 실질적인 기여를 하며 강한 추진력과 원칙 있는 리더십을 입증했다”고 말했다.
