안양윌스기념병원이 지난 2월 13일 안양시 동안구청 건강기부계단 앞에서 열린 ‘건강기부계단 기부금 전달식’에 참석해 지역사회 나눔 활동에 동참했다.

이날 전달식에는 이동찬 병원장을 비롯해 조은호 동안구청장, 김순기 동안구보건소장, 이재훈 지역사회보장협의체 실무위원장 등 관계자들이 참석해 건강 증진과 기부문화를 결합한 지역 상생 모델의 의미를 공유했다.

‘건강기부계단’은 2017년 동안구청에 설치된 이후 시민들의 신체활동 활성화와 나눔문화 확산을 목표로 운영되고 있다. 시민들이 계단을 이용할 때마다 일정 금액이 적립되는 방식으로, 일상 속 작은 실천이 기부로 이어지는 참여형 사업이라는 점이 특징이다.

안양윌스기념병원을 비롯해 김형근예병원, 서울안과의원 등 동안구 소재 의료기관들은 매년 각각 250만 원의 이웃돕기 성금을 후원하고 있다. 조성된 성금은 동안구보건소와 동안구청, 안양시 지역사회보장협의체를 통해 관내 저소득 및 취약계층에 전달된다.

기부금은 ▲저소득 학생 학원비 지원 ▲저소득 어르신 건강용품(전기찜질기·혈압계) 지원 ▲취약계층 건강보험료 지원 등에 사용되고 있으며, 현재까지 누적 기부액은 7,750만 원에 달한다.

이동찬 병원장은 “건강을 위한 작은 실천이 이웃에게는 큰 힘이 될 수 있다는 점에서 건강기부계단은 매우 의미 있는 사업”이라며 “앞으로도 지역 의료기관으로서 사회적 책임을 다하고 지역사회와 함께 성장해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 안양윌스기념병원은 정기적인 의료봉사와 지역 연계 사업을 통해 공공의료 실천과 나눔 활동을 지속적으로 이어가고 있다.
