경기도의회 부의장 정윤경(더불어민주당, 군포1)이 군포고등학교 교육환경 개선을 위한 학부모 간담회를 열고 학교 현안을 점검했다.

정윤경 부의장은 지난달 25일 군포고 도서관에서 교직원과 학부모 위원 등 15명이 참석한 가운데 ‘학교 환경 개선과 발전을 위한 학부모 간담회’를 개최했다. 이번 간담회는 학부모들의 요청으로 마련됐다.

이날 학부모들은 학교가 추진 중인 ‘공교육 살리기 프로젝트(학교를 활용한 자기주도학습 지원)’에 대해 높은 관심과 참여 의지를 보이며 긍정적으로 평가했다. 다만 프로젝트의 지속성과 성과 확산을 위해서는 노후화된 책·걸상 교체 등 기본적인 교육환경 개선이 선행돼야 한다고 건의했다.

정윤경 부의장은 “군포시 인구 감소의 주요 원인 중 하나는 학부모가 교육을 위해 지역을 떠나는 현상”이라며 “지역에서 태어나 배우고 성장한 인재가 다시 정착하는 선순환 구조를 만들기 위해서는 교육환경 개선이 핵심 과제”라고 강조했다. 이어 “교육환경은 단순한 시설 보강을 넘어 살고 싶은 도시를 만드는 기반”이라며 “현장의 의견을 면밀히 검토해 실질적인 개선 방안을 모색하겠다”고 밝혔다.

군포고등학교 김석찬 교장은 “학생들의 자기주도학습을 지원하기 위해 학교를 오전 6시부터 밤 10시까지 개방하고 있으며, 방학 중에도 하루 평균 100여 명이 이용하고 있다”며 “공교육의 역할을 충실히 수행할 수 있도록 교육 여건 개선과 학습 지원에 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.

참석자들은 노후 책·걸상 교체 외에도 체육관 음향시설 보강, 진입로 급경사 완화와 교통약자를 위한 엘리베이터 설치, 당정근린공원 조성과 연계한 안전 대책 등 다양한 현안을 논의했다.

Principal Kim Seok-chan of Gunpo High School stated, "To support students' self-directed learning, our school is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and even during school breaks, an average of 100 students use the school daily. We will continue to strive to improve educational conditions and support learning so that we can faithfully fulfill our role as public education."
