군포시의회 박상현 의원이 직접 기획·주관한 청년 정책간담회가 지난 7월 25일 군포시의회에서 개최됐다. ‘지속가능한 대한민국을 위한 청년 정책간담회’라는 주제로 열린 이번 간담회는 지역과 세대를 아우르는 정례적 정책 대화 시도였다.

박상현 의원은 인사말에서 “정치는 결코 전문가들만의 영역이 아니라, 공동체에 대한 책임 있는 관심에서 시작된다”며, “지방의회가 청년과 직접 소통하며 정책의 방향을 함께 만들어가는 실험을 앞으로도 지속해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

이날 간담회는 정치·행정·교육·기술·문화 등 다양한 분야에서 활동 중인 청년들이 참석해, 지방의회가 지역 청년들과 함께 정치의 미래를 논의할 수 있는 플랫폼으로 기능할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

간담회에 참석한 청년들은 △정치의 양극화 문제, △건전한 정당정치의 회복, △합리적 정치 담론 형성의 필요성 등 정치 전반에 대한 날카로운 문제의식과 바람을 가감 없이 제시했다.

군포시 현안에 대해서는 △남부기술교육원 부지 활용 방안, △민생회복 소비쿠폰의 타당성과 효율성, △철도 지하화 및 지상부 개발사업 등 지역 주민 삶에 직결되는 사안들에 대한 청년들의 솔직하고 실용적인 제안이 쏟아졌다.

참석자들은 “지역 정치가 실제 정책 결정과 연결되는 과정을 직접 보고 발언할 수 있어 의미 있었다”며, “정책 참여의 문턱을 낮추는 이런 기회가 더욱 많아지길 바란다”고 말했다.

박상현 의원은 마무리발언에서 “지방의회가 제 역할을 하려면 시민과 직접 대화하고, 특히 미래세대인 청년들의 목소리에 더욱 귀 기울여야 한다”며, “미래세대를 정치의 동반자로서 초청한 이번 시도는 단순한 이벤트를 넘어 ‘지속 가능한 정치’를 고민하는 움직임으로써 계속해서 이어나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
