의왕시의회 서창수 의원이 지난 8월 22일 ‘의왕시 발달장애인 사회활동을 위한 보험가입 및 지원 조례’ 제정을 위한 간담회를 열어 관게자들의 의견을 청취했다.

이날 간담회는 (사)경기장애인부모연대 의왕시지부와 의왕시 노인장애인과 관계자 등이 참석, 조례안 설명과 의견수렴, 질의응답 순으로 진행됐다.

서창수 의원이 대표발의한 이번 조례안은 발달장애인이 사회활동 중 발생할 수 있는 신체적·재산상 피해에 대비해 배상책임보험 가입 및 보험료 지원을 제도적으로 보장하는 내용을 담고 있다. 이를 통해 발달장애인 가정의 경제적 부담을 덜고 신속한 보상을 지원하는 것이 목적이다.

조례안은 보험기관 선정, 보장 내용, 청구 절차 등 구체적인 사항이 포함돼 있어 실질적인 도움을 줄 수 있도록 설계됐다. 현재는 보건복지부와 제도 신설을 위한 협의가 진행 중이며, 향후 입법예고를 거쳐 제정·시행될 예정이다.
