안양시가 지난 9월 26일 저녁 평촌중앙공원에서 ‘제52회 시민의 날 기념식’을 개최했다.

안양춤축제 개막식에 앞서 열린 이날 기념식에서 △효행부문 황인두 △지역사회발전부문 최수연 △사회복지부문 홍영란 △산업경제부문 정재성 △문화예술부문 안교영 △교육부문 함학기 △체육부문 황인경 △환경보전부문 방극안 △시민안전부문 김영식 등 9명이 안양시민대상을 수상했다.

이번 시민의날 기념식은 △김무진 캘리그래피 작가의 축하 퍼포먼스 △시민헌장 낭독 △안양시민대상 시상 △최대호 시장 기념사 및 박준모 안양시의회 의장 축사, 강득구·이재정·민병덕 국회의원 영상축사, 김동연 경기도지사 영상축사 △축하공연 순으로 진행됐다.

시민헌장 낭독은 2010년 안양시민대상 시민봉사 부문 수상자인 이재철씨와 안양예고 문예창작과에 재학하며 청소년 부문 베스트셀러 ‘시한부’의 작가로 알려진 백은별 양이 맡았다.

김무진 퉁 캘리그래피 대표가 ‘시민과 함께 도약하는 안양’을 주제로 캘리그래피 퍼포먼스를 선보이며 기념식의 의미를 더했다.

특히 예능프로그램 ‘유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭’에 출연해 화제가 된 박달초 합창단 ‘꿈꾸는 하모니’가 특별공연을 펼쳤다. 꿈꾸는 하모니는 전학 가는 친구를 위해 노래를 개사해 부른 영상으로 큰 감동을 준 바 있다.

최대호 안양시장은 기념사에서 “한때는 1기 신도시의 모범으로 불렀지만 시간이 흐르며 발전의 한계가 드러났다. 지역 간 격차는 커졌고, 경기 침체와 인구 감소는 지역 경제에 큰 부담으로 작용했다. 또한 대기업들의 이탈이 이어지고 저출생, 고령화의 문제까지 더해져 지역의 문제를 어렵게 했다”며, “이 모든 것이 우리가 반드시 넘어가야 할 현실이었다”고 말했다.

최 시장은 이어서 “우리 시는 지속 가능한 도시 성장을 이루고자 인공지능 시대를 대비한 3대 핵심 축으로서 인덕원 인텐스케어, 박달 스마트시티, 호계 스마트자족도시 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다”며, “우리는 지금껏 슬기롭게 위기를 극복해 왔고 앞으로도 잘 극복해 나갈 것이다. 시민 여러분 한 분 한 분이 안양의 역사이자 안양의 미래이기도 하다. 안양시가 대한민국 중심 도시가 되고 세계가 좁아가는 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 저 또한 혼신의 노력을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

박준모 안양시의회 의장은 “ 안양시는 어려움이 있을 때마다 시민 여러분들의 지혜와 역량으로 슬기롭게 위기를 극복하고 더 나은 미래로 한 발 한 발 나아갔다”며, “그 결과 지금은 명실공이 전국 최고의 스마트 행복도시 안양으로 자리매김할 수 있었다. 이는 시민 여러분들의 뜨거운 열정과 참여 그리고 노력이 있었기 때문이라 생각한다. 이 자리가 안양 시민 여러분들의 자긍심을 높이고 앞으로 우리가 함께 걸어야 할 길에 대한 희망을 불어넣는 자리가 될 수 있기를 진심으로 기원한다. 안양시의회도 시민 한 분 한 분의 목소리를 소중히 여기며 시민이 즐겁고 더 행복한 안양을 만들기 위해서 더욱더 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

김동연 경기도지사는 영상축사에서 “앞으로 제게 제2의 고향 같은 우리 안양시를 대한민국 기회 일번지, 산업 일번지, 기후 일번지로 만들어서 발전시키는데 우리 경기도가 최선을 다해서 힘을 보태겠다”고 말했다.

이날 기념식에는 최대호 안양시장, 박준모 안양시의회 의장, 김의중 안양춤축제추진위원장, 시·도의원, 유관기관 및 단체장, 친선결연 및 우호교류도시 축하방문단 등 5,000여명이 참석했다.

Anyang City held its '52nd Citizen's Day Ceremony' at Pyeongchon Central Park on the evening of September 26th.

At the ceremony, held prior to the opening ceremony of the Anyang Dance Festival, nine individuals received Anyang Citizen Awards: Hwang In-du (Filial Piety), Choi Su-yeon (Community Development), Hong Young-ran (Social Welfare), Jeong Jae-seong (Industry and Economy), Ahn Gyo-yeong (Culture and Arts), Ham Hak-gi (Education), Hwang In-gyeong (Athletics), Bang Geuk-an (Environmental Conservation), and Kim Young-sik (Citizen Safety). This year's Citizens' Day ceremony included a congratulatory performance by calligrapher Kim Moo-jin, a reading of the Citizens' Charter, the presentation of the Anyang Citizens' Award, a commemorative address by Mayor Choi Dae-ho and congratulatory remarks by Anyang City Council Speaker Park Joon-mo, video congratulatory remarks by National Assembly members Kang Deuk-gu, Lee Jae-jung, and Min Byeong-deok, and a video congratulatory address by Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon, followed by a congratulatory performance.

The reading of the Citizens' Charter was given by Lee Jae-cheol, winner of the 2010 Anyang Citizens' Award in the civic service category, and Baek Eun-byeol, a student in the Creative Writing Department of Anyang Arts High School and author of the best-selling youth book "Time Limit."

Kim Moo-jin, CEO of Tung Calligraphy, added meaning to the ceremony by presenting a calligraphy performance under the theme "Anyang, Leaping Forward Together with Its Citizens."

A special performance was also given by the Parkdal Elementary School Choir "Dreaming Harmony," which gained attention after appearing on the entertainment program "You Quiz on the Block." Dreaming Harmony deeply moved the hearts of many with a video of them rewriting a song for a friend who was transferring to another school.

In his commemorative address, Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho stated, "Once hailed as a model first-generation new city, the limitations of its development have become apparent. Regional disparities have widened, and economic recession and population decline have placed a significant burden on the local economy. Furthermore, the continued exodus of large corporations, coupled with the challenges of a low birth rate and an aging population, have further complicated the region's challenges. These are all realities we must overcome."

Mayor Choi continued, “In order to achieve sustainable urban growth, our city is accelerating the development of Indeokwon Intense Care, Bakdal Smart City, and Hogye Smart Self-Sufficient City as three key axes in preparation for the era of artificial intelligence.” He added, “We have wisely overcome crises so far and will continue to do so in the future. Each and every one of you citizens is Anyang’s history and its future. I, too, will do my utmost to help Anyang become the central city of Korea and a city that makes a leap forward as a city in an increasingly smaller world.” Anyang City Council Chairman Park Joon-mo said, "Whenever Anyang faced difficulties, it wisely overcame them with the wisdom and capabilities of its citizens, moving forward step by step toward a better future." He continued, "As a result, Anyang has now established itself as the nation's leading smart and happy city. I believe this is due to the passionate passion, participation, and hard work of our citizens. I sincerely hope that this event will boost the pride of Anyang citizens and instill hope for the path we must walk together in the future.
