안양시의회 김도현 의원(더불어민주당, 안양사)이 통학로 교통안전 개선에 기여한 공로로 감사패를 받았다.

김 의원이 지난 3월 20일 귀인초·민백초 교통안전 학부모협의체로부터 어린이 통학로 안전 확보와 보행환경 개선에 힘쓴 공로를 인정받아 감사패를 수상했다.

김 의원은 이날 평촌 백영고사거리, 초원LG아파트사거리, 꿈주유소삼거리 일대에서 진행된 등굣길 교통안전 캠페인에 참여하고 학부모협의체와 간담회를 갖고 현장 의견을 청취했다.

특히 꿈주유소삼거리는 지난해 12월 어린이 교통사고가 발생한 곳으로, 이후 해당 구간을 중심으로 교통안전 대책이 집중 추진됐다.

김 의원은 지난해부터 주요 교차로에 잔여시간 표시 신호등 설치와 신호체계 개선, 안전시설 확충을 추진해 왔으며, 사고 이후에는 우회전 신호등 설치와 동시보행 신호 도입, 횡단보도 정비, 어린이보호구역 방호울타리 설치 등이 신속히 이뤄질 수 있도록 관계기관 협의에 참여한 것으로 평가받고 있다.

김도현 의원은 “통학로 안전을 위한 개선 과정에서 안타까운 사고가 발생해 무거운 책임감을 느낀다”며 “학부모와 지역 주민들의 참여에 감사드리고, 안전 대책이 일회성에 그치지 않도록 지속적으로 점검하고 보완해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

한편 김 의원은 2023년과 2024년에도 평촌동 학의천 보행로 구간에 안전펜스를 설치하는 등 지역 내 보행환경 개선 활동을 이어오고 있다.

Anyang City Council Member Kim Do-hyun (Democratic Party of Korea, Anyang-sa) received a plaque of appreciation for his contributions to improving traffic safety on school routes.

Council Member Kim received the plaque on March 20 from the Traffic Safety Parent Councils of Gwiin Elementary School and Minbaek Elementary School in recognition of his efforts to ensure the safety of children's school routes and improve the pedestrian environment.

On that day, Council Member Kim participated in a traffic safety campaign for school routes held in the areas of Pyeongchon Baekyeonggo Intersection, Chowon LG Apartment Intersection, and Kkum Gas Station Intersection. He also held a meeting with the Parent Councils to listen to on-site opinions.

In particular, the Kkum Gas Station Intersection is the site where a child traffic accident occurred last December, and since then, traffic safety measures have been intensively implemented, focusing on that section. Representative Kim has been pushing for the installation of traffic lights displaying remaining time, improvements to signal systems, and the expansion of safety facilities at major intersections since last year. Following the accident, he is credited with participating in consultations with relevant agencies to ensure the swift implementation of measures such as the installation of right-turn traffic lights, the introduction of simultaneous pedestrian signals, the maintenance of crosswalks, and the installation of protective fences in child protection zones.

Representative Kim Do-hyun stated, "I feel a heavy sense of responsibility as this unfortunate accident occurred during the process of improving safety on school routes."
