경기도가 청년들이 취업 준비와 교류, 여가 활동을 자유롭게 할 수 있는 청년공간 활성화에 나선다. 이용 편의를 높이기 위한 예약 시스템 개선과 청년공간 정보 통합 제공 등 다양한 지원 정책을 추진할 계획이다.

경기도와 경기도미래세대재단은 올해 도내 청년공간 46곳을 지역 거점으로 프로그램 지원과 운영 활성화 사업을 지속 추진한다고 5일 밝혔다.

청년공간은 경기도에 거주하거나 생활하는 청년들이 취업·창업 준비는 물론 모임과 여가활동을 할 수 있도록 지원하는 공간이다. 취업 역량 교육과 창업 공간 대여, 문화 프로그램, 1인 가구 청년을 위한 소셜다이닝, 생활용품 대여 등 다양한 프로그램이 운영되고 있다.

도는 2018년부터 24개 청년공간 조성을 지원해 왔으며, 시군 자체 조성 공간을 포함해 현재 총 46곳이 운영 중이다. 이 가운데 38곳(82.6%)은 직장인 청년들의 이용을 고려해 토요일에도 문을 열고, 일부 공간은 밤 10시까지 운영하고 있다.

우수 청년공간 선정 규모도 확대된다. 도는 지난해 3곳이던 우수 청년공간을 올해 5곳으로 늘려 최우수·우수·특별상(점프업) 부문으로 시상할 계획이다. 선정된 공간에는 표창과 함께 프로그램 운영을 위한 추가 사업비가 지원된다. 특별상은 전년 대비 운영 성과가 크게 향상된 공간에 주어진다.
