경기도의회 정윤경 부의장(더불어민주당, 군포1)이 지난 10월 13일 도의회 부의장실에서 경기도사립유치원연합회 및 군포시사립유치원연합회 회장단과 간담회를 열고, 경기도 유아교육의 질적 향상과 제도적 지원 방안을 논의했다.

현재 사립유치원 현장에서는 방과후 교사 처우개선 및 환경개선 지원의 시·도·시군별 편차로 인해 유아교육의 지역 간 격차가 심화되고 있다는 우려가 커지고 있는 상황이다.

이날 간담회에서 연합회 측은 유치원 현장의 현실적 어려움을 전하며, 특히 방과후 교사 처우개선 지원 확대, 유치원 소규모 환경 개선 지원의 필요성을 강조했다.

현재 경기도는 3개 반까지만 방과후 교사 처우개선 지원을 하고 있어, 연합회는 지원 범위를 전면 확대해 우수 인력의 이탈을 방지하고 교육의 질을 높여야 한다고 건의했다. 또한 노후화된 시설 개선을 위한 재정 지원 강화도 요청했다.

정윤경 부의장은 이에 공감하며 “유아교육의 질 유지는 미래세대를 위한 가장 확실한 투자”라며, “학부모들이 안심하고 경제활동에 전념할 수 있도록 유치원 수업 환경과 돌봄의 질을 높이는 것이 중요하다”고 강조했다.
