경기도의회 도시환경위원회 김옥순 의원(더불어민주당, 비례)이 지난 9월 1일 경기도의회 의왕상담소에서 의왕시 지역경제위생과 관계자들과 함께 ‘도깨비시장 아케이드 설치 간담회’를 열고 전통시장 환경 개선과 상권 활성화 방안을 논의했다.

이번 간담회는 지난해 11월 기록적인 폭설로 기존 그늘막이 붕괴된 이후, 상인들과 이용객들이 눈·비·폭염 등으로부터 보호받지 못해 겪어온 불편을 해소하기 위해 마련됐다. 참석자들은 안전한 장보기 환경 조성과 더불어, 아케이드 설치가 시장 경쟁력 강화와 지역 경제 활성화로 이어질 것이라는 데 뜻을 모았다.

김옥순 의원은 “올해 잦은 폭우와 이상 고온으로 시장을 찾는 시민들의 불편이 컸을 것”이라며 “쾌적한 환경에서 전통시장을 이용할 수 있도록 아케이드 설치를 적극 지원하겠다”고 강조했다.

의왕시 관계자 역시 “편의시설 확충을 넘어 도깨비시장이 시민에게 더욱 사랑받는 생활 밀착형 전통시장으로 거듭나는 계기가 될 것”이라며, “사업 추진에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
