경기도의회 김옥순 의원(더불어민주당, 비례)이 지난 8월 7일 경기도의회 의왕상담소에서 의왕시 학교 조리사·조리실무사들과 만나 학교 급식실 현대화사업 추진을 위한 간담회를 개최했다.

이번 간담회 참석자들은 학교 급식 현장의 열악한 작업 환경 개선 요구를 반영해 사업 추진 과정에서 현장 종사자들의 의견이 충분히 반영돼야 한다는 점을 강조하며, 복지 향상을 위한 다양한 의견을 나눴다.

특히 일부 학교의 경우 급식 종사자 남성 휴게공간이 부족하다는 의견이 제기됐고, 이에 대한 세밀한 개선책 마련 필요성이 제기됐다.

김옥순 의원은 “급식 종사자들이 건강하고 안전한 환경에서 근무해야 학생들도 건강하게 학교생활을 할 수 있다”며, “현장의 목소리가 제도와 법안에 반영되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gyeonggi Provincial Council Member Kim Ok-soon (Democratic Party of Korea, proportional representation) met with school cooks and culinary assistants in Uiwang City at the Gyeonggi Provincial Council Uiwang Counseling Center on August 7th to discuss the school cafeteria modernization project.

The meeting was organized to address the growing demand for improvements to the poor working conditions in school cafeterias. Participants emphasized the importance of fully incorporating the opinions of field workers in the project implementation process and shared diverse ideas for improving welfare.

In particular, some schools raised concerns about the lack of break rooms for male cafeteria workers, highlighting the need for detailed improvement measures.

Council Member Kim stated, "Students can only enjoy a healthy and safe school environment if cafeteria workers work in a healthy and safe environment." She added, "I will do my best to ensure that the voices of the field are reflected in systems and legislation."
