안양시청소년재단(이사장 최대호) 산하 호계청소년문화의집(소장 김진희)이 지난 4월 15일부터 26일까지 14회기에 걸쳐 안양덕현초등학교(교장 김선림) 5학년 학생 179명을 대상으로 초등 STEAM 교육 ‘케미칼트’를 진행하고 있다.

STEAM(융합인재교육)은 “과학기술에 대한 학생들의 흥미와 이해를 높이고 과학기술 기반의 융합적 소양과 실생활의 문제 해결력을 배양하는 교육”이다.

‘케미칼트’는 화학(Chemistry)와 미술(Art)의 합성어로 창의적인 융합인재 양성을 위한 STEAM교육을 이해하고 작품 만들기 활동을 통해 응용해 볼 수 있도록 기획된 프로그램이다.

참가 청소년들은 오리엔테이션을 시작으로 미래사회에 맞는 4차 산업 이해 교육을 통해 4차 산업시대에 대한 지식뿐 아니라 다양한 화학 반응을 실험할 수 있었다.

또한, 응용 과정에서 LED 표면장력 칼라막 액자, 오토마타 나비 만들기 등 작품 만들기 활동에도 참여했다.

Hogye Youth Culture House, elementary STEAM education ‘Chemicalt’ held

The Hogye Youth Culture House (Director Kim Jin-hee), under the Anyang City Youth Foundation (Chairman Choi Dae-ho), held an elementary STEAM education program for 179 fifth-grade students at Anyang Deokhyeon Elementary School (Principal Kim Seon-rim) over 14 sessions from April 15th to 26th. ‘Chemicalt’ is in progress.

STEAM (Convergence Talent Education) is “education that increases students’ interest and understanding of science and technology and cultivates science and technology-based convergence knowledge and real-life problem-solving skills.”

‘Chemicalt’ is a compound word of Chemistry and Art, and is a program designed to help students understand STEAM education to cultivate creative convergence talents and apply it through work-making activities.

Starting with orientation, participating youth were able to experiment with various chemical reactions as well as gain knowledge about the 4th Industrial Revolution era through education on understanding the 4th Industrial Revolution suitable for the future society.

Additionally, during the application process, they participated in work-making activities such as creating an LED surface tension color frame and an automata butterfly.

Hogye Youth Culture House operates a variety of programs to improve self-direction and planning skills through the development and distribution of youth-led volunteer activities.
